BLOOM PERIOD:   March - April.

HABITAT:  (1) South and southwest facing rocky hillsides. (2) Usually found on the of top of hills among grasses and rocks.  It is difficult to find when not in bloom.

SUBSPECIES: (1) Ancistrocactus brevihamatus brevihamatus,
(2) Ancistrocactus brevihamatus tobuschii (Protected by law).
